Selank

  • Form: Lyophilized powder
  • Purity: >99%

Overview

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analog of the endogenous peptide Tuftsin, which is known to regulate immune system activity. It has been studied for its potential immunomodulatory, anxiolytic, and nootropic effects. Selank is structurally modified with a Pro–Gly–Pro sequence at the C-terminus, a modification believed to improve stability and facilitate penetration through the blood–brain barrier (BBB).

Research Background

Tuftsin is a natural tetrapeptide associated with immune regulation. By extending Tuftsin with additional amino acids, Selank was developed to improve stability and broaden biological effects. Research on Selank suggests possible applications in reducing anxiety, improving cognition, and supporting immune balance. Its Pro–Gly–Pro fragment may also play a role in enhancing CNS penetration and neuroprotective activity.

Mechanism of Interest

  • Immunomodulation: Suggested to regulate immune activity by influencing cytokine expression and immune cell function.
  • Anxiolytic effects: Animal studies indicate potential reduction of anxiety-like behaviors.
  • Cognitive action: Investigated for possible support of memory and learning processes.
  • Neuroprotection: May reduce oxidative stress and protect neuronal integrity.
